Reishi for protection and improvement of kidney functions

Diabetic patients often develop chronic kidney problems due to the constant ups and downs of glucose in their organism. Reishi has been seen to protect the kidney (proved in diabetic mice).

The benefits of Ganoderma lucidum for the kidneys appear to be multifactorial due to its immunomodulatory effects, vasodilatory effects, effects on blood lipids, antiplatelet effects that contribute to kidney function.

Studies and research:

Prevention of cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity by terpenes isolated from Ganoderma lucidum occurring in Southern Parts of India.

Ganoderma lucidum suppresses endothelial cell cytotoxicity and proteinuria in persistent proteinuric focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) nephrosis.

Treatment with vasodilators and crude extract of Ganoderma lucidum suppresses proteinuria in nephrosis with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.

Effect of polysaccharides from Ganoderma lucidum on streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy in mice.

Treatment of glomerular endothelial dysfunction in steroid-resistant nephrosis with Ganoderma lucidum, vitamins C, E and vasodilators.

Effect of an extract of Ganoderma lucidum in men with lower urinary tract symptoms: a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized and dose-ranging study.

POS-02.75: A randomized clinical trial of an ethanol extract of Ganoderma lucidum (edible and medicinal mushroom) in men with lower urinary tract symptoms

Kidney protector against damage:

Evaluation of the hepatic and renal-protective effects of Ganoderma lucidum in mice.
