reishi-retinaThe retina lines the inner surface of our eyes. It is in charge of turning the image into electrical signals that the brain interprets. If the retina is chemically or physically damaged, vision is totally lost, leaving us blind.

Reishi has been seen to be effective to protect the retina from damage caused by a highly toxic substance for the retina: N-methyl-nitrosourea. Animals that consumed reishi spore extract were hardly affected, whereas animals that didn’t have reishi experienced great damage.

Because of its effectiveness, a patent has been developed to protect and maintain eye health (see article below).
